Hello, I’m Karen. And yes, if my fire alarm is going off, it must mean I’m in the kitchen cooking or baking something! It never fails…..I’m almost always setting them off! Typically it’s from cooking something in the oven, or using the cast iron griddle on the stove top. It gets a little too smokey, and my overly sensitive fire alarms start screaming. It hasn’t stopped me from trying, tho. 🙂
And that’s what this blog is about…..my attempts at cooking. Sometimes they’re a flop….sometimes they’re a success. I’m constantly on the lookout for new recipes to try. I hate making the same things over and over again, although I do have a few staple dishes I make frequently. I’m also not so good at winging it and making up my own recipes. I do tweak things by adding or omitting ingredients, or substituting lower fat/sugar/sodium ingredients to make things a little healthier. So I don’t expect to post too many of my own recipes….but I’m definitely going to share with you pictures of what I’ve made and where you can find the recipe.
I just got an electric pressure cooker, so I’m experimenting with that….which means a lot of my posts might be about pressure cooking! I also love to use my slow cooker on weekends (why can’t I feel safe enough to leave it one while I’m gone all day at work so we could come home to a ready-made meal? I just can’t do it. Defeats the purpose of the slow cooker, I know…) and I’m always on the lookout for a good slow cooker recipe. I came across some for oatmeal and I’d really like to try that.
